Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cassiterite
Locality: Viloco Mine (Araca mine), Loayza Province, La Paz Department, Bolivia (Locality at mindat.org)
Incredible, competition-quality specimen of cassiterite from the old mines of Araca, Bolivia. These were found in the 1930s to 1950s, in this quality. The crystals on this piece are beautifully formed, with outstanding luster, and some are even translucent and GEMMY !! The crystals are fairly uniform in size (up to 3.5 cm across) , 3-dimensional, lustrous as heck, and appear to be sitting on massive cassiterite. Minor abrasions can be observed on some of the crystal edges but nothing truly bothersome that detracts. Somebody's competition case label and Hauck collection label included with piece. 8.3 x 7.6 x 6.4 cm
