In oui' plant- stoves they produce their f r a g r a n t white flowers in great abundance, which are succeeded by the large red berries con- taining the seeds. Pot in sandy loam and peat in about equal parts, and treat the plants to a high tempe- rature, well charged with moistuiT. C. ar(Abica yields the fa- mous 'Olocha coffee.^' It is a much- bra n c h e d shrub; the flowers borne in clusters in the axils of the leaves, white and sweet - scent- ed. G. araUca variegata is distinguished by its leaves, which are marbled and flaked with creamy-white and yellow markings. C. llberica is a robust-growing plant, and is said to be of a stronger constitution than the preceding, namelv, C. arabica.

Coleus.—A genus belonging to the order Labiatcey containing numerous species, few of which, how- ever, are suf- ficiently at- tractive to find a place in our plant- houses. The numerous highly-co- loured and fantastically marked form 3 (the majority of which have been obtained by cross- breeding) are deservedly popular, as they are use- ful as bed- ding plants, as ornaments for the cot- tage window, the green- house in sum- mer, or the stove all the year round. Coleus are plants which are very easily man- aged. They are times the tasrers some- called Cot- Cro- PlPEK POfiPHTEOPHTLLUlI (CiSSrS POEPHTEOPHYLLA of gll'deus) tons," from the brilliant colours they develop when fully exposed to the sun in a cottage window, and again they are known as '•Indian Xet- tles," on ac- count of their habit and general appearance. In winter, unless kept in very strong heat, they usually lapse into a imiform green state, and it is best to obtain
