Description
English: Three huge casks of tobacco being guarded by soldiers


Flickr user Niall McAuley notes that per the NLI record a note on the back of the image reads: On Saturday 3 huge casks of tobacco were thrown into the Liffey. Yeasterday (Sunday) a Military 3 ton lorry endeavoured to salve the casks on shore but sunk in the mud. After efforts to try and save the lorry a "Whippet Tank" was dispatched to the rescue [1]
