Description

Arms of Case of Hayton, Lancashire (1664) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, pp.174-5): ‘’Argent, on a bend engrailed gules cotised sable three round buckles or’’. Later of Ince, Lancashire & w: Thingwall Hall, Knotty Ash, Liverpool.

Manor of Ince, Lancashire: Henry Brown, by his will in 1726, left it to his grand-nephew Edward, son of Robert Holt of Wigan; by two daughters and co-heiresses it became the property of General Clegg and Thomas Case of Liverpool. Thomas Case of the prominent Case family and also Mayor of Liverpool in 1817 lived at Thingwall Hall, Knotty Ash, Liverpool . In 1845 the property was purchased from the executors of Thomas Case by Samuel Thompson.

Also arms of Case of King’s Lynne and Norwich. Arms of Philip Case (d. 1792) of Stradsett Hall, Norfolk and of the Gaywood estate on the edge of Kings Lynn. Norfolk Record Office:  BL/CS 7/4/1-9 - Title deeds relating to the manor of Stradsett, late the Abbot's of West Dereham, with the rectory and advowson, sold to Philip Case by Richard Saffery in 1766.

Also seen in All Saints Church, Great Fransham, Norfolk, North Wall of the Chancel, mural monument to Thomas Case (late of Testerton House in this county), who having been an eminent Attorney, and one of the Common Council Men in the borough of King's Lynn, died there on the 2nd day of September, 1793, in the 64th year of his age."
