Summary
[edit]DescriptionCasa das Histórias Paula Rego 02 (5788435952).jpg |
The Paula Rego Museum (formally known as the "House of Stories Paula Rego") was built as a home to an extensive collection of works by Paula Rego and her late husband Victor Willig. Rego herself selected Eduardo Souto de Moura as the architect of the project. The museum, which opened in 2009, is located in the seaside town of Cascais, about an hour from Lisbon by commuter train. Most of the exterior walls have no windows. The entrance is just a dark opening in the facade - you cannot see the glass doors until you get close to them. There is no signage - you are instinctively drawn to that dark opening and you know you are in for a great adventure... |
