Summary
[edit]DescriptionCasa Grande-The Bien-McNatt House-1880.JPG |
English: The Bien/McNatt House was built in 1880 and is located at 208 W. 1st St. The Bien-McNatt House is one of the oldest adobe buildings in Casa Grande and is known for its long association with Carr McNatt, one of the city's most popular citizens. The house was also the residence of Ed Bien. Bien owned a blacksmith and wagon shop to the east of the house. Carr S. McNatt bought the property in 1908 and the McNatt family occupied the house for over forty years. McNatt began as a bartender in his brother-in-law's Gilt Edge Saloon in 1907. He later operated a soft-drink parlor and became a Casa Grande deputy sheriff. McNatt was a well- liked and respected man in Casa Grande, according to reports. He died in the mid-1960s. . It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, reference #85000880. |
