Description
English: Cartoon in the London Transport Museum. A "lady of the slums" enters a wealthy woman's parlour. Caption reads: "Why Not? Wealthy dames are forming organisations to induce the "lower classes" to practise thrift. Why should not the ladies of the slums follow suit? Visitor (to President of the Society for Inculcating thrift amongst working classes): 'Yes mum, I'm Chairman of the Society for advocating Thrift among the the [sic.] upper classes, an' I jest called in to ask a few questions, to advise you how to spend the week's wages, an' see as you don't throw your money away on unnecessary things!'"
