Italiano: Cartilagine ialina colorata con blu di toluidina (colorante basico) in cui è possibile osservare la forte metacromasia della sostanza fondamentale, dovuta alla presenza di glicosaminoglicani (acidi). La metacromasia consiste nel cambiamento di colore di un colorante (viola in questo caso) quando si lega a determinati gruppi chimici.
Vista al microscopio ottico, ingrandimento 40x. English: Hyaline cartilage coloured with the toluidine blue (basic dye) in wich you can observe the strong metachromasia of the ground substance, due to the presence of glycosaminoglycans (acid). Metachromasia consists in a switch of the color of a dye (purple in this case) when bound to specific chemical groups.
