Zimbel (1929 - 2023) From the Globe and Mail, Toronto A common cause of overheating on older cars was the belt-driven radiator cooling fan, in slow traffic the fan wasn't turning fast enough to properly send enough air onto the radiator, the introduction of electric fans and the switching from dynamos to alternators which provided more electric at lower speeds are some of the reasons that overheating became a thing of the past. -- Steve (in below comments) |
