Prohibition crusader Carrie Nation, sans hatchet, arrived in New Orleans the day before this photograph appeared in the Times-Democrat. She gave addresses at several saloons in the city and planned to investigate enforcement of the Sunday closing law. She also took time to deliver a rather scathing criticism of President Theodore Roosevelt, saying "I have all the contempt in the world for Theodore Roosevelt." | |||||||
