Summary

English: Carreg Coffin/Coffin Rock Ron Thomas, in his "Childhood Reminiscences of Fishguard" during WW1, wrote that on Fair days there were boat rides costing 2d. across the harbour and around the fort to see this 'stone coffin' perched atop the rock as if it had been beached there by the tide.
No tourist attraction now, but in those days it must have been a sombre reminder that many local people lived and died at the mercy of the sea. The same rock can be seen from another angle here 537579 |
