Description
English: Carpenters' marks inside the museum Inside the timber-framed C17th house which is now the museum can be seen the markings used by carpenters to put together the wooden structure. Carpenters would prepare and assemble the timbers of the frame in their own yard, marking the joints ready for assembly on site. The heavy joints were numbered with a system of Roman numerals.
