LACED PINKS.i. YOUNGS DOUBLE X. 2. JOHN EDMUNDS ( FLORIST, VOL. 1., 1848). THE PINK 103 hybridists would do well to make this one blemish tobe eradicated in the future. A split Pink as well as asplit Carnation is not pretty, and the flower is beatendown by rain, bedraggled in soil, and its beauty utterlydestroyed, no matter how clear and winsome thecolouring may be. It is stained and soiled and un-worthy of our affections. The following selection isnot free from faults, but they are the varieties mostoften seen in nurseries and gardens. Laced Pinks The best of this group are Amy, Boiard, BuenoRetiro, Brackleen, Capo di Monti, Chantilly, Clara,Device, Duke of York, Empress of India, Eurydice,Excellent, Godfrey, Harry Hooper, Jeannette, fohn Ball,Lupra, Minerva, Mrs. Darke, Mrs. Lakin, Mrs. Pomeroy,Mrs. Welsh, Mrs. Waites, Maggie, Morna, Modesty, OldChelsea, Pheasants Eye, Reliance, Rainbow, Sarah,The Rector, Wedgwood, and Zurich. Of these thefollowing have flowers that rarely split:—
