| Description |
English: Carlops. The village of Carlops lies right on the A702 Edinburgh road. The village was founded in 1784 and Coal, Limestone and Weaving were very much behind its growth. The village was named after the Carlin Loup. A large rock at the south end of the village where supposed witches would be hanged or burned. The village is also famous for its links with the Poet Alan Ramsay and the bar that bears his name can be seen at the turn in the road in my picture. The actor Robert Hardy lived in this village for a short while as well. |
