Description
Svenska: Porträtt målat av Gustaf Lundberg (1695‑1786), föreställande greve Carl Gustaf Tessin med preussiska Svarta Örnsorden. Pastell, 66 x 52,5 cm.

Porträttet finns upptaget i Carl Gustaf Tessins julklappslistor från julafton 24 december år 1746: ”N.o 6. fröken Taube, mitt portraitt i pastell af Lundberg med glas och ram 1200”.

Charlotta Catharina Taube gifte sig 1748 med Pontus Fredrik De la Gardie. Hon är kanske mest känd för att ha varit den som genom sitt exempel i realiteten införde koppympningen i Sverige. Dessutom var hon med och stoppade den sista häxprocessen i Sverige.

På notbladet i Tessins hand återfinns strofen ”Silphide, Silphide”. Kronprinsessan Lovisa Ulrika hade givit Tessin i uppdrag att namnge de hovfröknar som var medlemmar i hennes ”Academie för de Små Mästarinnorna” vilket han gjorde med sedvanlig skärpa. Charlotta Catharina Taubes namn var ”Sylphide”, en anspelning på hennes vana att springa omkring och flaxa med armarna som en kvinnlig luftande (sylfid). Charlotta Catharina Taube förekommer också i den så kallade ”Hönstavlan” av Johan Pasch och Johan Henirk Scheffel från 1747 föreställande Lovisa Ulrikas sex hovfröknar.

Proveniens: Grevinnan Charlotta Catharina Taube (1723‑1763), gift med Pontus Fredrik De la Gardie (1726‑1791) till Sjöö och Almare-Stäket, i gåva från Carl Gustaf Tessin julafton 1746. Därefter genom arv till 2020.
