Description
Deutsch: Carl Gottfried Bommel (14. August 1837-1914), Neffe des Kürschnermeisters Carl Gottlieb Bommel, in zweiter Folge ein Mitglied der Familie Bommel als Kürschnermeister in Bad Liebenwerda. Davor Werkführer einer bekannten Leipziger Kürschnerfirma. Übernahme des Betriebs vom Onkel am 1. April 1871 (der eigentliche Erbe, der Sohn Carl Gottlieb Bommels, war am 23. März 1866 als Soldat beim Infanterieregiments Nr. 72 plötzlich verstorben).

Neben mehreren Geschwistern war Carl Gottfried Bommel der älteste Sohn des Tabakspinners in Dobrilugk. Er absolvierte seine Lehre sowie drei Gesellenjahre bei seinem Onkel in Liebenwerda. Nach dem Militärdienst arbeitete er als Kürschner in Halle und Magdeburg. In Halle legte er vor der Kreisprüfungskommission am 16. März 1865 seine Meisterprüfung ab, um dann nach Leipzig zu gehen, bevor das Geschäft in Liebenwerda übernahm. In späten Lebensjahren hatte er mit einer schweren Krankheit zu kämpfen, so dass er im 57. Lebensjahr, lange vor seinem Tod, gezwungen war, die Firma an den ältesten Sohn Karl Bruno Bommel zu übergeben.
