Hecho: Julio Florez es conocido como uno de los poetas colombianos más leídos de principios del siglo XX, su poesía cargada de erotismo, sirvió muchas veces como piedra de escándalo para sus seguidores. Siempre se preocupó por el destino político de su país, disponía su pluma para luchar a lado de las causas más justas, sin embargo su poesía comprometida hizo que fuera perseguido y reducido a prisión en varias ocasiones.

En su libro titulado "Lírica Heroica" dedicada al general Rafael Uribe Uribe, Florez se convirtió en el poeta de los soldados que combatían, en una lucha provocada por las tensiones sostenidas entre las fuerzas políticas y religiosas de sus país.
