Description

Cargadero de la Compañía Minerales de Hierro de Galicia, junto al Puente de Rande, en Redondela (Pontevedra). Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, desde este lugar salía mineral de hierro procedente de unas minas de Monforte con destino a Alemania, donde era usado por la industria armamentística nazi. El propietario de la compañía y vicecónsul de Alemania en Monforte, Friedrich Wilhelm Cloos, murió en Monforte de Lemos el 22 de septiembre de 1949, siendo enterrado en Vigo. El cargadero de mineral, construido en 1925, fue abandonado, desmontando y su parte metálica vendida como chatarra en la década de 1950. Lo que queda del cargadero está en ruinas.

Loading platform of the Compañía Minerales de Hierro de Galicia (Iron Ore Company of Galicia), near the Bridge of Rande in Redondela (Pontevedra). During the Second World War, from this place was sent to Germany the iron ore from the mines of Monforte, where it was used by the Nazi armaments industry. The owner of the company and Vice Consul of Germany in Monforte, Friedrich Wilhelm Cloos, died in Monforte de Lemos on September 22, 1949, being buried in Vigo. The mineral loading platform, built in 1925, was abandoned, dismantled and its metal part sold as scrap in the 1950's. What remains of the loading platform is in ruins.
