Summary
DescriptionCarentan Église Notre Dame Vitrail Baie 19 2014 08 24.jpg |
Église Notre-Dame, Carentan, Manche, Basse-Normandie, France English: Medieval stained glass created c. 1470 in the 19th bay (west-most window of the north transept) with three lancet lights depicting in the main row (from left to right) Saint Leonard of Noblac, Saint Giles, and Saint John. Saint Roch is depicted in the lower left panel while the raising of Jairus' daughter is in the lower right panel. Some restorations were executed in 1915 and 1931 by Charles Daumont-Tournel. In 1979 Michel Durand added the missing lower panels of the first and third panel and redid the head of Saint Leonard after the head of Saint Romphaire in the 9th bay. See also p. 123 in Martine Callias Bey and Véronique David: Les vitraux de Basse-Normandie, ISBN 2-84706-240-8. Please note that the panels created by Michel Durand are still covered by copyright and may not be cropped but just included as its presence in the picture is unavoidable, see COM:DM France - Freedom of Panorama "de minimis" exception. |
