Summary

[edit]
Description Lot-913-J-L-6: WWII-North African Campaign. A British Raid in the Western Desert. Much of the warfare in the Western Desert, in between major campaigns, consists of raids on enemy positions. Some are small affairs – nuisance raids to upset the enemy’s nerves, or to capture a few prisoners and gather information about enemy troops or positions. Others are on a bigger scale, daring penetrations, far behind enemy lines, calculated to do serious damage to airfields, stores, dumps, or communications. Some big raids of this kind have taken place recently in the desert. Shown: Some of the captured enemy positions. Office of War Information Photograph. Courtesy of the Library of Congress.
