G Brooks found an additional photo in book of SS Captain Sturt. The caption beneath the photo reads: "The steel-hulled wheeler 'Captain Sturt' at the Waikerie Landing in the 1920s. Built in Cincinnati, U.S.A. and shipped to Australia in sections, rebuilt at Mannum and completed at Blanchetown, this very powerful steamer was used by the River Murray Commission from 1917 to about 1935 to push barges loaded with up to 500 tons of cargo and stone used in the construction of the locs. Our photo shows a cargo of crushed granite from the quarries near Mannum in its way to the Lock 3 site."
