Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Named after Captain Robert Lister Bower, the first Resident and Travelling Commissioner for the interior of Yoruba land, this monument stands at about 65 feet tall. It was commissioned on December 15, 1936. It has stood there for nearly 83 years! Bower's Tower has historic prominence and was one of the foremost tourist sites in Ibadan, Nigeria. The Spiral staircase earned it the name layipo (to go round in local parlance). Standing on the tower provides one an extensive circular view of many parts of the ancient city of Ibadan.
