Description

Capela de Nossa Senhora das Verdades Em 1697, a Capela de Nossa Senhora das Verdades estava em construção, a expensas da Confraria de Nossa Senhora do Postigo das Verdades. Foi dotada pelo cónego Domingos Gonçalves Prada, em 1701, vizinho da capela a quem a confraria e o senado da Câmara autorizaram a abertura de uma porta de acesso pela sua habitação.


Arquitetonicamente está inscrita no estilo maneirista: planta retangular, cobertura de duas águas, frontispício delimitado por pilastras toscanas e rematado por frontão triangular. No interior, o retábulo de feição maneirista com decoração apontada para o barroco nacional, intercala quatro pinturas que representam São Domingos, São José, São João Batista e Nossa Senhora da Rosa, com a imagem de Nossa Senhora das Verdades, num nicho ao centro. Esta imagem, em pedra de Ançã, provavelmente do século XIV, esteve originalmente a encimar a porta da muralha primitiva da cidade, o Postigo das Mentiras (depois Verdades).


O Município do Porto procedeu a obras de restauro, no âmbito do projeto "Caminhos de Santiago - Caminho Português da Costa", cofinanciado por fundos comunitários NORTE 2020, possibilitando a reabertura da capela ao público, em março de 2018, como Centro de Acolhimento a Peregrinos. <a href="https://cultura.cm-porto.pt/patrimonio-cultural/capela-de-nossa-senhora-das-verdades" rel="noreferrer nofollow">cultura.cm-porto.pt/patrimonio-cultural/capela-de-nossa-s...</a>
