Capela San Paio, Santiago de Compostela Di a lenda que San Francisco de Asís, en peregrinación a Compostela en 1214, hospedouse cun carboeiro chamado Cotolai na súa choza do Monte Pedroso. Encomendoulle a este construir un mosteiro pero cando lle replicou que non tiña recursos, mostroulle un tesouro perto da ermida de San Paio do Monte que lle permitiría levar a cabo a obra(O Convento de San Francisco de Val de Deus) Val de Deus era un terreo propiedade do mosteiro beneditino de San Martiño Pinario, que o cedeu en troques dunha cesta de peixe anual, que se seguiu entregando até fins do século XVIII. O convento primitivo veuse abaixo a comezos do XVIII e non fican del máis que cinco arcos apuntados que se conservan no claustro pincipal e o sepulcro de Cotolai. Estes arcos estaban na Sala Capitular, na que Carlos V celebrou cortes en 1520. A reconstrución, que conlevaba cambiar a orientación da súa igrexa) encetouse en 1742, e non foi sen problemas, xa que os viciños (especialmente os monxes de San Martiño) queixábanse da magnitude da obra, que lles restaba luz e ventilación e, a mais, ocuparía terras pertencentes aos de San Martiño. A disputa saldouse rebaixando a altura da igrexa franciscana.
