Description The Capehart House is a Queen Anne-style home on Blount Street at the eastern edge of downtown Raleigh. Constructed in 1898, the home was built for Lucy and B. A. Capehart, and is one of the best remaining examples of Queen Anne Architecture in the city. The house's roofline is very intricate, with many dormers, towers, and turrets that are covered in rich ornamentation and beautiful decorative motifs. The house was converted into apartments in the 1940s, and remained inhabited until purchased by the state government in 1971, and it was moved from its former location on Wilmington Street to its current location on Blount Street in 1979. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and now houses the State Ethics Commission.
