Sir:— I have the honor to inform your Excellency of LieutenantCrawfords return from the Mohawk River, the 20th Inst.He has destroyed a quantity of grain, burnt a mill severalhouses and barns and killed a number of cattle belonging toa settlement of rebels fifteen miles below Fort Herkimer. Theparty which was mostly composed of young troops behavedwith great spirit and steadiness.
