Summary

[edit]
Description

Cape Flattery, the northwest corner of the continental United States. Walk beyond this little piece of dirt and you will fall about 50 feet into the Pacific Ocean. The island is called Tatoosh, and it and the cape belong to the Makah.

As I turned around to walk back, I had the thought that I was the last person in the lower 48. All of the other hundreds of millions were in front of me, whirling east with the rotation of the earth.
