Description
Español: Capacidad de Sox9 para generar testículos.

A. Un embrión de ratón XY tipo salvaje expresa Sox9 en la cresta genital a los 11.5 días, factor inhibidor del conducto de Müller (AMH) en las células de Sertoli de la gónada embrionaria a los 16.5 días y finalmente forma los testículos descendidos (T) con túbulos seminíferos.

B. Un embrión XY con el transgén Sox9 (un control para los defectos del transgén) también muestra la expresión de Sox9, la expresion de AMH y testículos descendidos con túbulos seminíferos.

C. Los embriones XX tipo salvaje no muestran expresión de Sox9 ni de AMH. Estos construyen ovarios con células foliculares maduras.

D. Un embrión XX con el transgen Sox9 expresa el gen Sox9 y tiene AMH en sus células de Sertoli de 16.5 días. Estos tienen testículos descendidos, pero los túbulos seminíferos carecen de espermatozoides (debido a la presencia de dos cromosomas X en las células de Sertoli).
