Notes Lance Corporal William John Richard Townsend (583537), NZ Engineers, 3rd (NZ) Division, WW2 Enlisted at Auckland, New Zealand, and left with the New Zealand Engineers, 3rd (New Zealand) Division, 2NZEF, on 22 November 1942 aboard the Dutch ship 'M.V. Brastagi'. He served with 20th Field Company, New Zealand Engineers, in the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia during the Pacific campaign, returning home to New Zealand on 9 June 1944. He died at Auckland in 1975 aged 68.
