Description

Cantharellus texensis Buyck & V. Hofst.

Image location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA

Growing in the Big Sandy Creek Unit of the Big Thicket National Preserve. Spores ~ 7.0-11.1 X 3.9-4.4(5.0) microns, cylindric and smooth. Q(range) = 1.98-2.85. Q(ave) = 2.28. These had even longer spores(and somewhat wider) than what I found last year and also from what is in the Buyck paper. But not sure what else to call them. I noticed in both cases my camera doesn’t seem able to quite capture the redness of the fruit-bodies.

Recognized by sight
