The cure of Robert of Cricklade. Robert was Canon and Prior of St Frideswide's Oxford, who had become lame in Sicily, and prayed at the Tomb of St Thomas as seen on the left. He later returned, to give thanksgiving, placing his clothes and crutch as an offering, shown right. The inscription states: EST BACVLVS VESTIS PERO CVRE SIBI TESTIS - "His stick, his garment, his boot are witness to him of his cure". Early 13th century. |
