Transcript InfoField | Canongate Tolbooth, situated about half way down the street of the same name and on the north side of the road, is a quaint building in the French style of architecture with turrets and a projecting clock, dating from 1591. Built into the wall is the pillar of the Old St John's Cross to which is still attached the ring to which criminals condemned to the pillory were fastened. |
