Summary
[edit]DescriptionCanary Wharf station, Docklands Light Railway - geograph.org.uk - 712116.jpg |
English: Canary Wharf station, Docklands Light Railway When the DLR was first opened, passengers were surprised that the computer-driven cars stopped in the middle of nowhere, or so it seemed. The doors did not open, and after a second or two, the car moved on again. What was happening was that the car was stopping at the site of a station which had not then been built - neither Canary Wharf tower nor its station existed st that time. Here in 1991 we see the station being built, and the tower will follow. This photograph was taken from Heron Quays and shows car 03, one of the original fleet. |
