Description

Pont canal de Châtillon sur Cher. Le pont-canal sur la Sauldre est construit sous la direction de l' ingénieur Camille Bailloud entre 1833 (premier projet) et 1839 (ouverture à la navigation de la section Vierzon / Noyers). En 1833, l' ingénieur propose deux projets : un pont-canal avec bâche en fonte (deux arches de 16 m) ou un pont-canal en maçonnerie (cinq arche plein cintre de sept mètres d' ouverture). C' est le deuxième projet qui est réalisé. description : Pont-canal en maçonnerie comprenant cinq arches en plein cintre de sept mètres d' ouverture. La cuvette mesure trois m de large et 64,40 m de long, les chemins de halage présentent une largeur de 1,60 m. En 1842, ce pont-canal est considéré par l' ingénieur Eugène Flachat comme l' ouvrage le plus étanche du canal de Berry grâce à la qualité des mortiers employés. D' après le cadastre napoléonien, il semble que le tracé du lit de la Sauldre a été un peu modifié au moment des travaux.
