| Description |
English: Canal bridges near Aston-on-Trent, Derbyshire. The far bridge is No 5 on the Trent and Mersey Canal and appears to be a non original bridge, presumably replacing an 18th century farmer's bridge when quarrying to the south of the canal took over the land. Many of those old pits are now flooded, but a newer quarry seems to be in operation, for which another wider bridge (No 5A) has been constructed for modern heavily laden sand and gravel lorries. |
