With wonderful wildlife and scenic strolls, brilliant boating and fantastic fishing, Tring Reservoirs and the Grand Union Canal are a delightful discovery just waiting to be made. HISTORY & RESTORATION: Tring Reservoirs offer a fascinating insight into our industrial heritage. They were built in the early 1800's to supply water to the canal network, an important function they still perform today. Tringford Pumping Station, opened in 1818, continues to pump water to supply the canals. For a glimpse of restoration in action, take a stroll down the Wendover Arm Canal. www.wendoverarmtrust.org.uk . WILDLIFE & BIRD-WATCHING: Set in acres of precious wetland habitat, Tring Reservoirs are a rich natural haven for birds and wildlife. The reservoirs are very important, particularly for wintering water birds. Grab your binoculars and see what you can spot. WALKING: Our way-marked trails will help you explore Tring Reservoirs. You could take a short walk around one of the four reservoirs or explore all four. BOAT TRIPS: For a taste of life afloat you can hire a small craft for a day's outing, join a pleasure cruise or enjoy a week's narrowboat holiday. www.waterscape.com . A BITE TO EAT & DRINK: Tring Reservoirs are a good place for eating and drinking by day or night. The Reservoirs and canals are ideally situated for refreshments, with five pubs and two cafés all within easy reach. You'll find a good choice of food and friendly atmosphere, so why not relax and enjoy the picturesque scenery or take advantage of the site's picnic areas.
