Animal characteristics: Identification: The Canadian tiger swallowtail butterfly has yellow wings with wide black tiger stripes. It also has a wide black band along the inner margin of its hindwing. The butterfly has a yellow underwing with orange and black scaling; Habitat: Open woodlands; Diet: Herbivore: nectar, pollen; Reproduction: Canadian tiger swallowtail butterflies go through one generation in one year. Adults emerge and mate from mid-May to July; Social Structure: Canadian tiger swallowtail butterflies often gather at mud puddles; Status: No special status.
