CANADA LUMBERMAN 57 Lumbermen A re Preparing for Big Gathering Toronto Will Extend Warm Welcome to the Visitors on January 11 and 12.— President McLachlin Sends Cheerful Message to the Trade.—Other Details Preparations are now practically complete for the annual conven- tion of the Canadian Lumbermen's Association which will be neld at the King Edward Hotel, Toronto, on Wednesday and Thursday. -January 11th and 12th. Dan. McLachlin, of Arnprior, president of the association, and Frank Hawkins, of Ottawa, secretary, were in Toronto this week, conferring with the local committee of which A. E. Clark is chairman, in regard to the business and entertainment features of the assembly. The business programme will be carried out pretty much as out- lined in the last issue of the "Canada Lumberman." There is every prospect that the attendance of ladies will be unusually large. All the local committees are now at work and every provision is being made for a warm welcome to be extended the visitors and to see that there is not a dull moment from the time they set foot in Toronto until their departure. It is five years since the Canadian Lumbermen's Association met in the Queen City, and the institution has grown so and developed such strength, manhood and proportions that it would scarcely be recognized by those who looked in upon the proceedings of 1917. Now the Canadian Lumbermen's Association is a great national body. It carries weight and wields influence in many directions. It is repre- sentative of the best interests of the great lumber industry, is a clear- ing house for ideas and provides equipment for voicing the sentiment of the trade from one end of the Dominion to the other. The 1922 session will embrace discussions on railway freights, anti- shingle legislation, co-ordination of eastern and western interests, the export situation, business sales tax and other timely topics. Officers of the Association The present officers of the Canadian Lumbermen's Association are:— Hon. Pres.—J. R. Booth, Ottawa, Ont. Pres.—Dan. McLachlin, Arnprior, Ont. Vice-Pres.—A. E.
