Español: Can Montenegro Català: La inscripció diu: 'A l'Eminentíssim Princep senyor Fra Ramon Despuig. Compendi de grans herois, l'immortalitza aqueix marbre, a ell, ànima única en aquesta Balear nostra; Palma fou el seu solar natal; el seu bressol, un puig coronat de lis; així com per a altres l'eminència és un títol adquirit, ell té el puig al seu propi llinatge. Avesat de ben jove a la creu, va conduir amb ell en la trirrem que comandava un estol de fermes virtuts contra els turcs després de ser nomenat legat, governador, batliu i senescal. Tot ho va deure a la força de la virtut, i res a la roda de la fortuna. Ell, un sol Alcides, prestà el seu ajut a tres Atlants de l'orde, fins que amb el vot de tothom va créixer com únic Atlant quan va ser proclamat gran mestre de Malta. Palma feliç, que tan àmpliament escampes el teu fullatge, més feliç per haver produit fruit tan daurat, felicíssima per haver donat a Malta un príncep com ell! El Senat i el Poble de Mallorca a la glòria perdurable de tan gran i distingida casa'. Latina: Eminentissimo Principi Domino D. F. Raymundo Dezpuig. Aeternat marmor istud ingentium heroum epitomem, hac una in Baleari anima; Palma illi natale solum, cunabula montis lilio coronatus; scilicet ut aliis eminentia titulus, mons huic natura est. A teneris assuetus cruci, solidarum virtutum classem in una, cui praeerat trireme secum, duxit in Turcas legatus, gubernator, bailius et senescalis creatus. Virtutis manibus omnia, fortunae rotae nihil debuit. Trino religionis Athlanti unus suffragatur Alcides, donec omnium suffragiis solus excrevit Athlas, cum magnus Melitensium renuntiatus est magister. Faelix Palma, quae tam late diffundis frondes, faelicior quae tam aureum edideris fructum, faelicissima quae talem dederis Melitae principem.
