The house is now used by drivers and other employes ofthe Yellowstone Park Association. Rufus Hatch of New York commenced the building of the MammothHot Springs Hotel. He failed and sold out to the Yellowstone ParkImprovement Company, who opened it in 1884.1884—Robt. E. Carpenter of Iowa was appointed Superintendent, but waslater removed on account of the Park Improvement scandal.Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel opened.
