| Description |
Magical Ta Prohm was my favorite site in Angkor. Left mostly un-restored as it was found, it exudes an ancient, deep feeling. Used in the film Lara Croft Tomb Raider, it certainly has atmosphere and is certainly one of the most popular sites. But for all that, like we found at most places in Angkor, a simple left turn off the main paths leads to quiet, lonely routes where we could explore unhindered and nearly alone with our thoughts and the ruins. Taking the circuitous path, it was a realm of discovery, one corridor open to exploration, the next blocked up by collapse and huge blocks as I poked and wandered though. Each corner brought fresh sights and rich detail in carved stone or grown tree, so much that I found myself exclaiming my wonder aloud. |
