Summary
[edit]DescriptionCalming signals of dogs.jpg |
English: Two dogs both showing calming signals as they approach. The weaker dog (on the left) shows its side. He lowers its head and tail, he lowers its body height with the front legs (crowching) to signal to the stronger dog (on the right) that he does not want a confrontation. The stronger dog approaches from the side, avoiding threatening behavior such as looking at the dog head-on. Instead, it licks its muzzle with its tongue, which is understood by the weaker dog as a signal of peace and friendliness. This reduces the fear of the weaker dog and the dogs can play, although the weaker dog wanted to avoid it at first because the large male with the raised tail behaves dominant.[2], Communication in Dogs.
