DescriptionCallisto field.jpg |
The image depicts magnetic field around Jovian moon Callisto. The field consists of the Jovian stationary field, Jovian varying field and Callisto induced field. The bending of the field lines around Callisto is evident, indicating an existence of an electrically conducting layer in the interior of the moon. The field lines shown in the image were calculated based on the magnetic field data available from the scientific literature.[1][2] The red line shows a trajectory of the Galileo spacecraft during a typical flyby (C3 or C10). This image was created for the Callisto article.
