Summary
[edit]DescriptionCalifornia tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense) (14605464424).jpg | Unlike many other salamanders, California tiger salamanders only spend a very short period of their life in water. As juveniles, they leave the water to seek underground burrows made by small mammals where they mature to adulthood. Only six to nine inches long from nose to tail, adults can travel more than a mile to reach the ponds where they breed. Photo courtesy of Alice Abela. |
