Over a !)()-hr period, the concentrations of ammonia nitrogen increased by about 6 mg/liter and 3 mg/liter at 23 and 15 C, respec- tively. On the basis of the average weight of fish in the test jars, there was ail addition of NII4-N amounting to 0.24 mg/g at 15 C and 0.43 mg/g at 23 C. This difference approximates what may be expected if it is assumed that the metabolic rate doubles with a 10 C increase in 10 -1 8 - 6 - o LU O O < -z. o < 2
