DescriptionCalifornia Buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum).jpg |
California Buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum), California chaparral This is one of the most common flowers found in the chaparral of southern California. In early summer, they're a bright white/pink and a great nectar source for butterflies: www.flickr.com/photos/steveberardi/3668826432/ But, by the end of summer, they dry up and become a toasty red/brown color, like the one in this photo. (this one actually has some more toasting to do, heheh) |
