Summary
[edit]DescriptionCaliban discovery crop.jpg |
English: At the beginning of October 1997, fifteen Uranus moons were known when Dr. Brett J. Gladman, Dr. Philip D. Nicholson, Dr. Joseph A. Burns and John J. Kavelaars discovered the first two irregular Uranus moons. Like most Uranus moons, they were named after figures from the works of the English poet William Shakespeare, namely - as before already Miranda - based on figures from his comic fairy tale drama "The Storm": one of the two got the name Caliban (after "a wild and misused slave"), (after the mother of the Caliban, a witch). Caliban received the designation Uranus XVI, Sycorax Uranus XVII. |
