Description

I had expected Calgary to be rather underwhelming due to its prairie location, and never really allotted much time to it at all. Besides, with my border delays on my way into Canada, I had to hurriedly skip Calgary on my way to the Rockies.

But after I wrapped up my Rockies sightseeing, instead of proceeding west immediately to Vancouver, I backtracked an hour east back to Calgary, in order to get some photo angles and get at least a teaser of what the city has to offer.

With Bow River flowing through city center and nice hills to the west, Calgary is more scenic than I had expected. Here, I managed to take this shot of downtown, from Canada Olympic Park to the west, in particular the Ski Jump Tower for the 1988 Winter Olympics, Calgary's highest vantage point. I am loving what I'm seeing.
