DescriptionCaledoniaMacBrayneFerryMVLordoftheIsles2007.jpg |
Caledonian MacBrayne ferry MV Lord of the Isles, seen approaching from Mallaig to Armadale on the Isle of Skye. CalMac is the major operator of passenger and vehicle ferries between the mainland of Scotland and 22 of the major islands on Scotland's west coast. The company is publicly owned and controlled by the Scottish Government. The MV Lord of the Isles (shown) was built at Ferguson Shipbuilders, Port Glasgow, and was launched in 1989 on the River Clyde. The capacity is 506 passengers and 56 cars. (info from Wikipedia) There is an old poem: "The Earth belongs unto the Lord And all that it contains. Except the Kyles and the Western Isles And they are all MacBrayne's."
