Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Calcite
Locality: Fengjiashan Mine (Daye Copper mine), Edong Mining District, Daye County, Huangshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, China (Locality at mindat.org)
These wonderful triangular, pyramidal calcites from the Daye Mine are VERY uncommon and highly prized by the Chinese – and they charge quite a premium for them. In fact, the two specimens here are priced barely above cost, truth be told. This crystal measures 2 cm on edge and has rust tones from inclusions of hematite. Note how two of the tips are flat, where the third is pointed – all three natural and undamaged. It is quite unusual to see a variety of calcite that commonly terminates in either form. 8.5 x 6.8 x 4.5 cm
